 Shear / Scratch Tester

With the TABER® Shear / Scratch Tester, you can evaluate resistance to shearing, scratching, gouging, marring, scraping and engraving.
It can also be used to test the relative homogeneity of materials, the adhesive qualities of protective coatings and the effects of age on similar materials.

 Multi-Media Abraser 5500

Originally presented at the 1996 International Conference of The Adhesive and Sealant Council(2.2 MB), the Multi-Media Abraser provides a reproducible method to measure the abrasivity of various mediums. Using this instrument, you can determine the relative abrasiveness of fluids, powders, pastes and semi-solids. Or, characterize how these mediums cause wear when they come in contact with different components.

 Reciprocating Abraser

The Taber® Reciprocating Abraser is a test apparatus similar to the instrument described in test method ISO 1518. Ideal for flat surfaces, this tester can be configured with optional attachments to evaluate the relative resistance or susceptibility of a material surface to physical damage such as wear and abrasion, scratch, mar, gouge, scrape, rub, plus others.

 Oscillating Abrasion Tester
The TABER® Oscillating Abrasion Tester – Model 6100 is best known as an “oscillating sand tester”. Described in ASTM F735, the oscillating sand tester is used to measure the resistance of a material to surface abrasion and scratching. It’s primary application is for transparent materials and coatings utilized in windows and lenses, but it can also be used to evaluate organic coatings, plastics, metals and other materials

 5135 & 5155 Wet abrasion

The TABER® Rotary Platform Abraser (Abrader) was developed to perform accelerated wear testing. First introduced in the 1930's, this precision built instrument rapidly became the world standard for evaluating abrasion resistance. Since its inception, the Taber Abraser has been used for quality & process control, research & development and material evaluation.

Details
 5750 Wet abrasion

The TABER® Linear Abraser - Model 5750 [part# 985750] offers the greatest versatility of any Taber instrument available. Designed to test virtually any size or shape specimen, the Linear Abraser is ideal for material properties of contoured surfaces and finished products.
